Innocent Railway Tunnel - Edinburgh

On a recent trip to the UK, I walked through the Innocent Railway Tunnel in Edinburgh.

Closed to rail traffic since the 1960s, the route is now popular with cyclists and runners.


And graffiti artists.


Several theories exist as to why it's called the Innocent Railway. One is that there were no fatalities during the construction of the railway. Another is that horse-drawn carriages were used at first, seen as more innocent than steam trains. Either way, it's a great name.
