ABOUT ME
Hiya! I'm Gareth. Welcome to my site, Train Trip Japan.

I'm originally from Lancashire in the UK and grew up with a heritage railway in my town. It was definitely thrilling for a young boy - watching the steam trains running through the scenic countryside, taking in the sights, taking in the smells. Something that has never left me.

I first lived in Japan between 2005 and 2008 and then moved back in 2011. I now live in the western suburbs of Tokyo. For several years, the railways in Japan meant just the ones I used every day to get to work or the occasional trip on the bullet train to the typical destinations like Kyoto or Hiroshima.

But as I started to travel more and more throughout Japan, I realised that the railways beyond Tokyo, beyond the big cities, beyond the guide books, were fascinating to me. It began to awaken the feelings I had when I was a young boy in Lancashire.

And so, this website shows what I have found as I have been seeking out more and more interesting places. I'm planning to expand my site in the future to start running Train Trips so you can see some of these locations for yourself - but for now, I hope you enjoy the blog and photo gallery where you can see photos and find out some information about the Train Trips I have been on.

Cheers!
Gareth
