Beautiful rust streaks on an old train

Preserved rolling stock are great to see. Gleaming, shiny, polished trains sitting well-protected in museums are an important part of our railway heritage. But I definitely have a soft spot for trains like this that have been allowed to fade slowly, out in the open, the elements taking charge.

I came across this train in November 2020. It has since been repainted to try to get back some of its old glory. Whilst I applaud local efforts to preserve the train, I will miss the train in this condition due to the interesting beauty it definitely holds.
